Overcast.

303 went by quick yesterday. Who knows why. Afterwards, we got ready to go to Daniel's congratulatory/farewell dinner- his graduation from the airforce academy and back to Seattle, then Boston. I think that's pretty exciting.

When dinner party becomes dress-up-dinner, the house becomes a complete, frantic mess.

After shopping at a used records store (for Daniel's gift), we went to Park Meadows mall for the dinner at Mikuni.

 Yeah. Barren.

I have no pictures from the night but it was quite interesting. Everyone whom we knew didn't show up to the dinner (planned by Stephen), and so technically, I wasn't the odd ball (or was I?). Daniel invited his airforce friends and twin girls. Considering that I had met Daniel only once before, everyone was basically a stranger. It was like college freshman year all over again, except with class and composure.
As if that wasn't odd enough, we all went to nrb afterwards. Let me just tell you straight up that I have absolutely no interest in karaoke. I am neither part Korean nor part stimulating for something like that. It's just not my scene.

This morning I woke up feeling a strong feeling for coffee. I woke up earlier than I had anticipated, and it was thunderstorming a beautiful thunderstorm. I Yelped the best and nearest coffee shop, and walked five minutes in the overcast weather to Rooster and Moon-- my new favorite go-to coffee shop. The staff is friendly and prices reasonable.
My mocha (which actually wasn't that good), and Steph's PB, banana, and oats on ciabatta bread.

Tonight we're making Korean food and bringing it over to Matthew's house. I'll be uploading pictures perhaps later tonight- if we don't die of food poisoning.

Weekend Numero Uno.

Sorry for the procrastination. Uploading pictures is a pain because the internet connection here is awful. I'll be posting multiple entries for each day, lag-style.

I met Sarah, finally, on Friday morning after my first run of the summer. But the run was useless because we went to Smash Burger afterwards (though I must admit it was worth it).

On Saturday, I took the "light rail" to Aurora where Soy picked me up and we went to her place, got her nails done at Moon's work, and did a little shopping. It was nice of her to spend her day with me while Stephen was at work.
Later at night, Steph and I went to Cap City (which is literally next door to the apartment).

Sunday I spent my time contemplating life, since I didn't go to church and it was a beautiful Sunday. I think I like Larimer Square the most so far. It's beautiful during the day as it is in the evening.

PS. My hair is back to black. I feel like myself again. And also less friendly looking.

Sleepless In Denver.

The thing about living in a different state that is not really related to you in any way is that you don't know what to expect.
I left Syracuse expecting sun, warm temperatures, and glamour (um, in a very white, 30-something, hip, EPA kind of way). Yet I just bought rainboots for the first time in my life because I couldn't handle walking around in this weather. Then I felt guilty and stupid so I returned them in a matter of 15 minutes. I think it was also because they were too snug on my feet.
Last night, I was drenched trying to open the front door to the apartment for 10 minutes. This is not summer.

Currently, I'm writing this in "The Market": a classical music playing, metropolitan, 70 year-old AND 25 year-old friendly cafe/market. It's sheltering me from the cold rain and providing me with free wifi.
When I came to The Market last summer, there was a guy behind the counter who talked and sounded just like George from You've Got Mail. Those are the types of people who come here.

One of the worst feelings is buying overpriced coffee that doesn't taste good. So I only drank half of it. Thanks, "The Market."

It seems to be that I'm growing increasingly ill. It started off bad while I was at school, wasn't surprised at how long it was taking to get over (because of the odd sleeping hours or lack of proper sleep), but I was okay until I got to Denver. I feel the worst today.

The EIC for SUBTLE (aka my pastor from home) is in Denver. Though we planned to meet up, the lack of transportation unfortunately obstructed our meeting. Did I tell you that my methods of transportation while I'm here are my feet or the bus? I get to work via walking and via 10 minute bus ride outside the city.

Living on your own in a completely strange land is pretty damn impressive. At least for me, I've not only been here once before, but I have a friend here. Even with people I know in my vicinity, I still feel lonely. So for those graduates who are going off to some unknown land, I really pray that the initial solidarity won't get to them. I applaud their bravery.

Denver is actually a pretty scary place to be. I guess every city has a bad side, but I rarely ever get afraid to walk home alone at night. Even NYC isn't this scary-- at least there are people around.

Tangent: Yelle is not coming to Denver. She's in Hollywood this Saturday, and then off to France. I hope someone in Cali sees her. We were talking about how no one would be singing along to her songs but everyone would be dancing anyway. I think it'd be a fun show.

Anyway, even though it's summer, I feel like I should be productive. If I was at home, I wouldn't feel too guilty just laying around, but being in a different place makes me feel like I have to do something. I need a job guys. Pray for me.

Meanwhile, I'll be here at The Market trying to finish this disgusting cup of coffee. Wish you guys could join me to make it a little bit more enjoyable.

Tornados And Such.

The day started off at 7AM, but once we got to the bus stop to go to the office, we got a text from the EIC saying we could go in an hour later. So we went to Barnes for an hour and enjoyed drinking designer coffee.

I guess this is for all of us at this age.

I will be giving out autographs after the show.

The weather was just overcast in the morning, but it didn't start pouring until we got to 303. At one point, everyone in the office went out to stare at the sky because there was supposed to be a tornado coming. The clouds were swirling around us in two different directions. I've never been in a tornado warning before. Hmm.

I'm at Leela's again because I'm a little locked out of the apartment. I realized that being lazy this summer is really not an option. But I still feel the calories packing on, the suppression of duties increasing, and advancing inactivity. I'm hoping that living with a friend is not equivalent to eating whatever and whenever I want. So far, my workout plan has failed. I would be running now if it wasn't pouring outside. But maybe that's my excuse. You call this summer, Denver?

Barren.

I made this amazing french toast with bananas this morning. After getting ready, S and I went to buy some things: a vanity mirror (for my soon-to-come Vanity Corner), an umbrella for the ill weather, and some food from the Japanese market. On the way, I got some job applications which I will turn in tomorrow.

Barren land is exactly why I refuse to live in such a state.

Dinner.

Oh yeah, I bought a new necklace that will be a new staple to my wardrobe. I couldn't stand those hideous golden studs!!
Thus the new badass drapes.

This latern thing we bought that isn't really a lantern from Sakura Square (literally one square as opposed to Little Tokyo in LA).

The view from suffocating window.

Currently at Leela's 24 hour European Cafe. Must go home to sleep soon.
Good night world.

Landlocked.

So 303 was interesting. I woke up an hour later than I wanted to, but all went well since S and I made it to work on time. It's so far, and so sketchy. But, I realized that stress, people who are mean for no reason, and harsh reality is all part of the working world. All I know is that I'm not ready for it.

It's cold in Denver and I have almost no warm clothes here, so I've been complaining a lot.

Went to 16th Street for free tasting at Noodles and Company!

All this for free. I met S's friends Jamie, Matt, and Jamie's coworker, Kyle. I went job hunting, but not enough to actually call it job hunting. Matt came over and we just talked for a while. Matt is my new best friend by the way.

Late night grocery shopping.

All Sorts Of Sicknesses.

The first time I came to Denver last summer, I didn't feel the difference in the effects of high elevation. Today's arrival in Denver (actually, in Colorado Springs first) was a surprise to me. Ears plugged, nasal congestion, and intense coughing, extended from my ongoing sickness during finals week.

I left Syracuse in an unexpected manner. I said bye to three people and frantically finished packing, "washing up," and getting to the airport all within 30 minutes.

To sum it up, my emotions were abrupt, booming, stoic, and lingering at the same time. I'm literally haunted right now as I'm here completely homesick. Not of California, but of school. I guess it's just all the emotions. I feel so helpless, which I think is the main component of homesickness.
But I'll talk about that and the end of school some other time. I'm still trying to picture my life here for the next couple of months. Tomorrow I start my internship at 303 Magazine. I didn't expect to start as soon as I arrived, but I guess this will be the summer of surprises.

For the life of me, this picture won't rotate on blogger but I'll fix it later. My "fortune for the summer." It left me feeling empty and confused. Great.
